Located in Bridel, a small city in Luxembourg, a residential area in an “L” shaped residential complex opens into its inner square.
Vast forests surround the city, where the environment is constantly changing. The building recreates the rhythm set by the nature.
Fulfilling the constructive premises, the building welcomes a skin that keeps a sinuous rhythm and follows the game of shadows experienced in the natural surroundings.
The use of wood to clad the façade raises awareness about raw materials, while creating a transition to constructive manufactured materials, such as phenolic panels. This union of materials exemplifies the link between the natural and the built.
The two volumes that make up the building are composed of one-bedroom to three-bedroom apartments. Their interior preserves the atmosphere of simplicity and harmony with nature, as their exterior merges with the interior. Slanted balconies invite the onlooker to contemplate the surroundings from various perspectives.
Keeping the commitment to reduce the footprint in the natural environment, a meandering pedestrian path creates a replica of those found in the forests surrounding the city. This path involves the building in its entirety and ensures the continuity of ecosystems, including all the essential functions of a sustainable space.
