Lisbon is a city that has experienced a series of changes over the centuries. With more than 700 years of history, the city has been building on itself, layer by layer, in a perpetuity of stories and elements from the past.
Through Architecture, we can restore memories giving them a new purpose in a new cosmopolitan and contemporary world.
Located in the birthplace of the city, Lóios 19 apartment has its historical layers, camouflaged by a series of adaptations made over time.
To echo the maturity and sensitivity of the place, natural and historical elements are sculpted and emphasized to create a space marked by history.
A corridor links the rooms of this apartment. During the works, it was possible to restore a unique feature of this type of Pombalino historical construction: St. Andrew’s crosses. This structural element, so striking in Portuguese architecture, allows space fluidity and permeability.
The social area is whole and opened, enjoying the natural light that makes it inviting.
Materials such as wood, stone and hydraulic mosaic create a connection between vernacular and contemporary.
