Ja-Ba - Barreiro Garden

This project in the city of Barreiro is part of a embracing proposal for the occupation of an empty urban space (the old Football Field “O Barreirense”). The purpose of this proposal is to qualify and enhance urbanistically the consolidated urban area, creating an attractiveness factor that contributes to the settlement of population in the existing urban agglomeration.

It was intended to create a relationship between the building and the existing urban layout, through the creation of a green space that provides possible encounters, and that is interconnected with the centenary French Garden.

The architecture of the building blends harmoniously with the exterior. The materials to be used, the large terraces and balconies, allow to extend life from the inside to the outside. The terraces and balconies are the highlight of the building, offering open and bright spaces with generously sized spans, either facing south or north with a view of the river.

To provide better enjoyment conditions for future occupants, it was proposed to use the roof floor, which includes two groups of barbecue grills, two multipurpose rooms, a swimming pool and a jogging track for physical exercise, so that residents can enjoy and organize leisure activities. All these areas will be in an open-air and comfortable environment overlooking the Tejo River, integrating small green areas and the necessary technical support areas.

The proposal contemplates the construction of a building with three housing blocks, each with eight floors, on a basement at the 1st floor level for commerce and services, and an underground floor for parking, with a contemporary architectural language.
