Ocean 9 is a residential development comprising 28 apartments, located in Armação de Pêra, Algarve. The architectural concept was originally developed by another architect, with MUTO joining the project at a later stage to undertake the technical review of the architecture, develop the detailed construction design, coordinate all engineering disciplines, and oversee the construction process.

During the technical assessment of the project, several opportunities for improvement were identified in both the architectural design and engineering systems. These enhancements were essential to ensure buildability, effective coordination between disciplines, and the overall quality of construction.

In collaboration with the original architect, the transfer of copyright was agreed, enabling MUTO to assume full responsibility for the architectural revision and develop a new detailed construction design, while also reviewing and coordinating all engineering disciplines.

Beyond the technical development of the project, MUTO managed the tendering process, construction management, and site supervision, overseeing every stage of the works to ensure quality control, adherence to programme, and the correct execution of the project.

The result is a residential development that demonstrates MUTO's ability to transform a planning-stage design into a fully coordinated, construction-ready project, ensuring seamless integration between architecture and engineering while delivering rigorous project execution through to completion.
