Ja-Ba – Jardim Barreiro | Barreiro

The Ja-Ba – Jardim Barreiro project corresponds to the transformation of a significant urban void, the former “O Barreirense” football field, into a new residential development with a structuring impact on the city of Barreiro

The intervention was conceived as an element of urban regeneration, aiming to enhance the surrounding environment, strengthen the attractiveness of the area, and contribute to population retention within an established urban fabric.

The proposal establishes a direct relationship with the existing urban layout, integrating a central green space that promotes continuity with Jardim dos Franceses and creates a new area for gathering and collective use.

The built ensemble is organised into three residential blocks, placed on top of a podium dedicated to retail and services, ensuring mixed and active use at street level. The solution also includes underground parking, ensuring functionality and response to the needs of the development.

The architecture enhances the relationship with the exterior through generously sized balconies and terraces, oriented to maximise sunlight exposure and views over the Tagus River, extending interior spaces and improving usability.

At roof level, the project integrates a set of shared amenities, including a swimming pool, leisure areas, multipurpose spaces, and green zones, creating an additional layer of living and enhancing the value of the development.

The project positions itself as a new urban hub, combining housing, services, and public space, with a strong impact on the city’s dynamics and the valorisation of the territory.
