The Padaria XV project consists of the renovation of a historic building located in Lisbon’s Baixa Pombalina, within a classified area of high architectural and urban value.
The intervention was developed in compliance with the Baixa Pombalina Conservation Plan, ensuring the preservation of the building’s characteristic elements, namely façades, stonework, cornices, roofs, and window openings, while respecting its original identity.
Internally, the project introduces a new functional layout adapted to contemporary requirements, ensuring comfort and liveability without compromising the existing structural elements.
A glass lift was integrated, improving accessibility and introducing natural light into the common circulation area, enhancing the vertical circulation space.
The residential units were reconfigured to meet current standards, maintaining the building’s historic reading while balancing preservation and functionality.
The project was developed with a focus on execution, ensuring compliance with the technical and regulatory requirements associated with renovation in a historic context.
The result is an intervention that respects heritage, introduces residential quality, and adapts the building to contemporary use, with a pragmatic and construction-oriented approach.
