Founded more than 30 years ago and a pioneer in eye surgery in Portugal, it was essential to offer a functional, versatile and appealing place.

Located in the urban centre of the city, the place was closed and uninviting. To invite people in, we modified the façade. The placement of a large window facilitates the permeability between interior and exterior space. In addition, the entrance space became brighter and more spacious.

The interior lays out two pathways: one for the technical team and one for the patients and visitors. Consequently, the experience of the two environments is different. The pathway for the technical staff acts as a backstage and is branched, direct and functional; the patients and visitors’ pathway is wide, bright and serene.

The treatment and operating rooms are set in the centre, while all other areas are set around them. Everything converges to the central concept of Clínica Alba.
