Armação de Pêra is located in the south of Portugal, where its experience intensifies during summer time. The construction site is located on the last line of urban development next to the beach, in a densely urban and very diverse area.
One of the premises was to be able to provide tranquillity and connection with the natural aspects of the surroundings, in a holiday destination full of life.
Thus, we created a void.
The ground floor, directly connected to the street, is empty, allowing only pedestrians and private car access to the building itself. This void creates a feeling of permeability and isolation from the neighbouring urban hustle and bustle.
Surrounded by mountains and sea, with nearby beaches interrupted by caves and lagoons, wild countryside alternating with golf courses and gardens, it sets the motto for the fluidity of the main access space.
The distinctive and unique shades of the cliffs of Armação de Pêra was the proposal for the choice of materials in both texture and colour.
Just like the place where it stands, with constant seasonal metamorphoses, the building would have to keep the pace.
The interior unveils the adaptability with a structural mesh that allows flexibility for conversion, making it possible to adapt the architecture to the very experience of its space and its residents.
